Technican (Street Lighting)

Ringway are looking for a Street Lighting Technician to join the team in Stevenage.


Key Tasks & Responsibilities 

  • Assist with providing electrical asset design consultancy services to clients on time, within budget and to the agreed standards.
  • Assist with preparation of feasibility studies, budget estimates, cost/benefit/whole life costing analysis.
  • Assist with the generation of contract documentation, drawings and technical reports.  Assisting in the preparation of Tender submissions.
  • Undertaking site investigation, surveys and other studies.
  • Undertaking all health and safety activities as required under H&S and CDM regulations in accordance with Ringway policy and procedures.
  • Produce design packages that comply with CDM regulations.
  • Compliance with company instructions, procedures and requirements.
  • Liaison with HCC Officers, Councillors, Police, Highway Authorities, statutory undertakers and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of road lighting design and maintenance service. 

Knowledge & Experience required


Experience of street lighting industry from a consultancy/contracting perspective. Ability to develop a full understanding of all aspects of road lighting and illuminated signage design (both urban & inter-urban) gained through internal and external training and experience. Site supervision and/or office based site support. 


An understanding of design software products including AutoCAD, Lighting Reality, KeySigs and cable calculation software (i.e. Amtech), Microsoft Office


City and Guilds or ONC qualified in an engineering discipline (preferably electrical).  The ILP Lighting Diploma.  Associate of the ILP, CSCS / ECS / Sector 8 accredited

Good communication & time management skills.  Excellent team worker who can work independently when necessary. Drivers Licence
