Ringway honoured for 10 years of sponsorship for Horsham charity fundraiser

Ringway have been honoured by Horsham Rotary Club for its 10 years of sponsorship for the town’s charity pancake race.

A glass trophy was presented at the event to members of Ringway’s two teams – The Ringway Roadies and The Ringway Racers – by Horsham District Councillor, Kate Rowbottom.

The pancake race has been run in Horsham for the last 10 years and Ringway has sponsored the event throughout its history, and provided the barriers that mark the route.

The event is organized by Horsham Rotary Club in aid of local charities and this year the event raised £1,000 which was split between St Catherine’s Hospice and the new Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre.

This year’s Horsham Pancake Race was held on 10 April after it was postponed in February due to poor weather.

Matt Cooper, Business Apprentice, was among the staff who took part and he celebrated his 19th birthday by flipping pancakes along the course in Horsham town centre.

He said: “I never expected to spend my birthday running in a pancake race, given it is in April, but it was great fun and a real team effort.

“We were all pleased we could do our bit to support the event, but also to help raise money for some fantastic local causes.”

Madeleine Davey, Bethan Gillespie, Kate Meadows and Kieran White formed the Ringway Roadies, while the Ringway Racers team members included Matt Cooper, Kelly Robinson, Sam Matschy and Jack Robinson.
