South West Highways awarded Devon County Council contract for Minor Engineering Works

South West Highways has been awarded the contract to carry out minor highways improvement works across Devon by the county council.

SWH’s successful bid covered six Lots on the local authority’s Framework for Minor Engineering Works.

SWH will carry out work across the whole of the Framework, which is split into Lots by geographical area and values, which range from approximately £500,000 up to £1million.

The types of works that SWH will be responsible for typically includes footways, cycle routes, bus priorities, pedestrian crossings and traffic calming.

SWH achieved a place on all six Lots against tough competition. It is anticipated that the Framework will commence on 1 April 2018 and will operate for a period of four years, to 2022.

SWH is especially proud to have been able to maintain a place on the new Framework, having successfully delivered many schemes through the former Minor Works Framework for Devon County Council, including Countess Weir and the Teign Estuary Viaduct.

Richard Towl, Managing Director of South West Highways, said: “We are delighted with this fantastic tender result, which maintains and extends our partnership with this important client. The pre-construction team put in an enormous amount of effort and have achieved a place on each and every Lot.

“It is fantastic news for our delivery teams and we very much look forward to entering into a formal agreement with Devon County Council.”
