Winter & abnormal weather response services

From October to April, Ringway is on alert to provide a Winter Service for Local Authorities and businesses across the UK, representing over 17,656 kilometres of roads. The ability to maintain the highway network free from ice and snow is fundamental to the economic wellbeing of the UK and is a very visible facet of the highway service which Ringway teams are providing across the country.

Our winter operations are supported by professional, experienced, local teams with access to state of the art winter fleet, fitted with GPS allowing us to monitor progress and record the treatments applied to the network.

The success of our teams is built on partnerships with our Clients, the Highways Agency, Met Office and the Police to keep the road network open during bad weather. Working with farmers, local businesses and other public services, we prioritise our winter operations so that motorists, cyclists and pedestrians can travel in safety when bad weather hits. Due to changes in our climate we have had to adapt and respond to ever increasing abnormal weather occurrences such as flooding. Our experience in dealing with severe flooding means we have efficient and effective procedures in place to respond to these, often unforeseeable, situations whilst keeping disruption to a minimum.
