Eurovia's Polybitumens Plant based at Grays in Essex, is a brand-new investment within the UK by the Eurovia Group. This will enable Eurovia Infrastructure to supply our internal customer base with bitumen related products across the UK, and will also enable us to develop new markets within the external supply chain.


To operate our new plant, we have a great opportunity for a Plant Operations Manager. This is a rare chance to not only have responsibility for running the facility operationally and financially, but you’ll also be involved whilst the facility is being built, shaping its operational policies and procedures and the on-going input into innovative products and services.


Reporting to the Managing Director for Eurovia Infrastructure, the ultimate scope of the role is to successfully run the plant commercially and to the satisfaction of both customers and shareholders, whilst upholding optimum safety requirements of the facility and the wellbeing of staff.


Keys tasks and accountabilities


  • Lead and actively participate in the day to day management of the business.
  • Annual and quarterly budget reporting and management
  • Cyclic reporting of business performance metrics, financial, output performance, HSE, wastage
  • Plan and execute the cyclic and annual maintenance works on the plant in a cost-effective manner
  • Maximise the business and new product opportunities with existing customers and develop new external customers.
  • Actively participate in the securing of new business for products from the plant
  • Quality Control of products in conjunction with technical staff and their laboratory
  • Raw Materials scheduling and ordering
  • Supply Chain planning/forecasting
  • Planning and Capex for future installations, and cyclic replacement of plant
  • Waste Management


Ideal relevant experience and knowledge required:


  • Experience of managing a workforce across multiple disciplines, including a sound knowledge of H&S best practice
  • A mechanical engineering background with operational experience with bitumen plants or other similar 24/7 processing plants
  • Plant Maintenance
  • Financial control including the P&L account
  • Transport planning and operations
  • Procurement and liaison with suppliers
  • Emergency Planning and Management
  • A good level of IT competency in Microsoft systems is essential, i.e. Word, Excel
  • Experience with SAP business systems would be ideal
  • UK Driving Licence is essential




Degree qualified (Engineering) would be desirable
