Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Hours: Full Time

During one of the most intensive periods of carriageway and footway surfacing work on the Island we have, in road terms alone, laid over 1,000,000 metres of carriageway surfacing, the equivalent of a road stretching from the Island to London and then onto Luton. 


Ringway Island Roads are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team.



With the Support of Senior QS

  • Undertaking costs analysis and reporting
  • Assisting with the collation and preparation applications for payment
  • Preparation of internal and external commercial reporting
  • Assisting with the preparation of subcontract orders and contracts
  • Management of subcontractor accounts
  • Measurement, pricing and valuation of works
  • Administration of the call off schedule and all commercial registers
  • Keeping and typing up of commercial minutes of meeting
  • Reviewing and inputting of commercial data into financial systems
  • Processing Invoices
  • Liaising with senior management and the client in a positive and professional manner
  • Corresponding and liaising with supply chain partners in a positive and professional manner
  • Scanning / copying documents as required
  • Willingly carry out any reasonable task as requested by a member of the commercial team

  • Experience working within a team
  • IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office programmes (particularly Word and Excel)
  • An understanding of the role of a Quantity Surveyor



  • Experience in the Highways / Construction / Civil Engineering Industries
  • Procurement / Supply Chain / Purchasing experience
  • Currently undertaking HND / BSC in Quantity Surveying
  • Estimating and Pricing
  • Invoicing and payment processing
  • Contracts or Commercial experience
  • Measurement and Valuation of works

Applicants must hold five GCSE’s including Maths and English or equivalent and three AS / A Levels.  The opportunity to train formally as a Quantity Surveyor may be an option for the right candidate.
