Milton Keynes Road Safety Team promote Safer Routes to School

Ringway Milton Keynes have worked with Milton Keynes Road Safety Team to promote Safety in Schools with the introduction of a life sized sign of one the Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO’s). These signs have been implemented to write warning messages about parking safely around schools and also to clarify if a child is tall enough to not need a booster seat whilst traveling in vehicle.

There are over twenty JRSO’s across Primary Schools in Milton Keynes. Ringway held a competition for one of them to become of the face of Road Safety in Milton Keynes. Three entries were shortlisted and the two runners up were awarded with WHSmith Vouchers. The winner was awarded a voucher and the chance to model for the Road Safety Sign.

Eurosigns, part of Eurovia, joined the team at the Portfields Primary School in Newport Pagnell to photograph the winner, Brooke Merner. They then designed and manufactured the sign which was delivered to the school on the 30th November.

The sign has a dry white board which will be used by the JRSO’s to write messages such as ‘keep our children ‘safe, park safely’, ‘the number of car parks unsafely during school drop off’, ‘slow down for me” and many more example messages which have been provided to the school, to keep the message current.  The sign will be placed outside the school but can be moved, to ensure that it attracts attention and the idea is shared with other schools across the area.

Suzanne Seaman, Business Manager for Ringway Milton Keynes said, “This has been a fantastic opportunity for Ringway Milton Keynes and Eurosigns to be involved with the local schools. It is also great to see the passion from the Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO’s) from across all of the schools coming together and involving themselves in important safety awareness.”

New Spray Injection Patching Service: a low-cost solution to pothole problems

Eurovia Specialist Treatment (EST) is launching a new Spray Injection Patching (SIP) service to clients looking for alternative low-cost solutions to large-scale pothole problems. SIP is a cost-effective method of prolonging the life of a road with medium to severe deterioration, by sealing the surface to prevent further water ingress, the leading cause of potholes and surface defects. SIP not only eliminates the surface defect, but also minimises further damage by allowing clients time to identify further potential treatment options.
